Disgusting department defends the abuse of an officer towards an autistic teen. No apology or admission of wrongdoing. Disgusting.

Your officers need training- officers are required to accomodate people with disabilities by law. Your officers also do not know the law, the bruised and beaten child you tackled was not breaking any law. Officer Grossmen you can live with your career, and I hope you get the education needed to understand how grotesque and misinformed your actions in this situation were.

Department needs training on conditions such as Diabetes and Autism that may mimic intoxication. Really quite baffling that Officer Grossman did not recognize obvious signs of special needs, even after the child said he was stimming.

I think its totally sick that this department thinks its okay to hold down a boy with autism and assume he is on drugs when hes just stimming with a string, minding his own business, walking down the street. I saw this heartbreaking story on Facebook. As someone who has worked with autistic folks and being on the spectrum myself, I am completely and totally outraged that an officer doesn't know something as simple as what autism is....what your department did wrong is failed to teach your officers the difference between someone with autism with a string and someone who is huffing a paint can...the officer had NO right to take that poor child down to the ground. it makes the public upset when you pbviously did something wrong and will not admit it, or fire the officer in question. the mental anguish caused to the child by the officer should be grounds for termination (that poor, poor child had NO idea what was happening to him, if you're IQs are high enough to understand that) and obviusly this officer is really quite out of line also because a colleague asked him what did you do this time?...I cant believe that officers operate in this way!!! I hate all police. I really, really do. You do absolutely nothing for people but ruin their lives. In fact you wont even get hired if youre IQ is too high...what does this say about you and the job you do?...This officer just really got to my heart. How sick is your department to employ someone like this?...Its not the general publics fault, especially not this childs fault, that police have low IQs and who don't understand simple things like what autism is. I know this officer wont be fired but it would be right of you to fire him. I'm just outraged and needed to voice my opinion somehow to your department. Your officers are clearly mentally ill.
